OUR BENGAL CATS AND US

Our Bengal cat queens and kittens are kept indoors and interact with our family constantly. This allows us to enhance their very playful, outgoing, intelligent and very affectionate personality. Bengal cats have a fascination with water and ours love nothing better than to sit on our shoulders and try to paw the water when we're doing the dishes or come into the bathroom to try to get into the shower with us.

When we chose our two Bengals kittens originally (Alley and Keisha), we went through a reputable Bengal breeder in Victoria who breeds cats for their nature, temperament and personality. Until our own boy is ready, we will only be using studs from Bengal breeders who have the same reputation, as this will help us ensure that we get the best quality Bengal kittens in all possible ways.

Our Bengal cats are fed chicken and beef (with tuna thrown in occasionally) at least once a day. Feeding meat to ALL cats is important; they are not designed to eat a lot of grains and unfortunately most dry foods contain grains as their main ingredient. When feeding them dry foods, we only feed them high quality foods that have meat as their main ingredient. When fed the right food, the difference in the cat's health is remarkable and the coat is visibly shinier (indicating a healthy cat).

We strictly follow the Feline Control Council's (Victoria) guidelines when breeding Bengal kittens, which states that Bengal cats should not breed more than twice a year; this is for their own well-being and we happily comply with this.

All of our Bengals have American bloodlines and do remarkably well at cat shows. Alley (our marble Bengal) has often had her markings described by judges as "striking" and she finished second at the 2007 Royal Melbourne Show (Best Kittens group). Maya (our youngest Bengal, third picture down on the right) has finished top 5 in NSW for Best Cat in the entire show.

If you are interested in a Bengal kitten or would like to see what a Bengal cat is like around the house, we are happy to be contacted to arrange a time for you to have a look (our contact details can be found at Ankita Bengals Home. They are not like any cat you have owned before and their antics and intelligence make them a joy to own.
